Origin of PHI-POT
FROM AN URBAN IDEA TO A GLOBAL MOVEMENT
The PHI-POT system aims to foster a closer connection with nature in urban areas, where available space is limited, to heighten our awareness of the critical need to care for it—something essential to everyone’s well-being and the planet’s future.
Its modular and stackable design allows you to create vertical gardens virtually anywhere, transforming it into a vibrant oasis.

Numerous scientific studies demonstrate the vital importance of being in contact with nature. However, according to the European Commission, most people live in urban environments characterized by a hectic pace of life and increasingly limited spaces due to housing costs. We spend 90% of our time indoors, which distances us from the essential connection with nature, a key factor for our well-being.
In 2025, the PHI-POT system took its first big step by launching on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. There, hundreds of people from around the world chose to support it, turning it into a successful project from the start. This backing not only validated the idea but also built a community that shares the vision of bringing more nature into everyday life.
Today, PHI-POT continues to grow with the same purpose that inspired its creation: bringing the beauty and benefits of plants to everyone, no matter how much space they have.

INSPIRED BY NATURE
HEALTHIER PLANTS IN AN OPTIMAL ENVIRONMENT
Nature follows patterns guided by growth and energy efficiency. Phi-Pot is based on these same principles, mimicking the natural development of real plants, governed by the Golden Ratio.
Thanks to this, the PHI-POT system exhibits unique properties that promote healthier plant growth.
PHI-POT not only maximizes light exposure and space utilization for each plant, but also reduces interference between neighboring plants.

The amazing design of PHI-POT offers unrivaled features:
- Minimal interference between neighboring plants
- Maximum light capture
- Optimal space for the growth of each plant
- High substrate capacity
- Sturdy
- Stable under load
The name “PHI-POT” comes from the Greek letter Phi (Φ), which represents the Golden Ratio, (1 + √5)/2, closely related to the famous Fibonacci sequence.

COMPACT, STURDY, AND HIGH-CAPACITY
WHEN NATURE FINDS ITS PLACE IN THE CITY
PHI-POT offers the highest density of substrate-grown plants per unit area on the market, making the most of your available space.
Unlike a shelf or conventional solution, where plants collide with neighboring levels or their height is limited, PHI-POT allows planting species up to 55 cm tall without interfering with other plants, ensuring healthy and harmonious growth.
Description of the PHI-POT system
DESIGNED TO LAST FOR MANY YEARS
PHI-POT is sturdy and built to last. It consists of modules that are securely assembled using connectors and screws with a manual tightening dial, eliminating the need for tools.
Made with high-quality materials and a thickness of 4 mm, it withstands extreme temperature and sun exposure, ensuring long-lasting performance for years.
⚠️ Important: For outdoor use in areas prone to gusts of wind or setups with four or more modules, it is highly recommended to add a stabilization Base.
The purpose of the base is to stabilize the vertical garden. Two base sizes are available:
- Base M (medium): suitable for standard configurations.
- Base L (large): recommended for eight or more modules.
The base is attached to the bottom module with a Phillips screwdriver and includes an anchoring set with washers and countersunk screws. For indoor use, it is recommended to place the base on a standard tray (not included) to collect excess water during watering, and it is recommended to cover it with weight, such as stones or sand, to enhance both aesthetics and stability.
The diameter of the imaginary cylinder enclosing the stacked modules of a PHI-POT system is 45 cm.

FAQS
Treat each module like a conventional plant pot! Each PHI-POT module in the system is watered with a watering can, just like any conventional flowerpot. Since each module has drainage holes, excess water flows into the lower modules and is collected by the saucer at the very bottom.
We recommend watering each module with a small amount of water, starting from the top and gradually reducing the quantity for the lower modules. Depending on the substrate and the amount of water applied, it might not even be necessary to water the very bottom modules directly. This method gives you more precise control over the watering dose for each module, keeping in mind that excess water will drain down through the drainage holes to the modules below. It’s generally more effective to water small amounts more often than large amounts infrequently.
Finally, we suggest using a particularly well-draining substrate in the bottom module.
We do not recommend watering all modules solely from the top module. This approach doesn’t allow for precise dosing per plant and is often ineffective: water may quickly create internal channels in the substrate, bypassing the root zones and failing to saturate the soil properly.
PHI-POT can function as both, depending on your preference and needs.
- As a system of stackable pots, the modules are filled directly with substrate, allowing you to plant species right in them. This option makes the most of the system’s capacity and versatility.
- As a system of stackable planters, the modules can hold individual pots inside. While this limits some functionality, it can be more practical for easier watering or plant replacement.
This way, Phi-Pot adapts to different growing styles and levels of maintenance according to what works best for you.

To ensure a Phi-Pot of optimal stability:
- Keep it balanced! Mix heavy and light plants conveniently on all sides to avoid leaning.
- Use lightweight soil for the growing area (to reduce weight farther from the system’s axis) and fill the trunk completely with a denser substrate, such as gravel or stones (to improve stability), in the bottom half of the system’s modules.
- Avoid environments susceptible to external disturbances. (e.g., wind exposure, pets, children, earthquakes, etc.).
- Use a suitable stabilization base and cover it with weight.
Professional tip: A fastening system can be used with a solid bar nailed to the ground or attached to a concrete structure that passes through the PHI-POT modules along their central axis, or a facade anchoring system to increase the stacking height beyond the recommended limits – but only at your own risk. Please note that the materials and mechanical/structural solution you choose must be resistant to corrosion, solar radiation, humidity, and mechanical loads, among other factors.
For a system with a properly installed suitable stabilization base, such as the Base L, well-balanced weights, and an environment free of external disturbances. (e.g., wind exposure, pets, children, earthquakes, etc.), we recommend a PHI-POT system with a maximum height of 12 modules.
Always prioritize stability!
A PHI-POT system with N modules will measure approximately N × 14 cm, where N is the number of modules in your system. For example, a PHI-POT system with 6 modules (N = 6) has a height of 84 cm (6 x 14 cm).
The diversity of preferences and needs of our current and potential customers regarding saucers is very broad, encompassing different shapes, sizes, materials, and colors. Given this variety, which we cannot cover with our own product, we have developed Base M and Base L. These bases are designed to integrate with the extensive range of saucers already available on the market.
Absolutely! You only need access to the top module’s interior, so simply remove the plant and soil from that one module.
Yes, it’s possible!, but you’ll need access to the interior of the modules where you want to divide the system.
Technically, it’s possible as long as you can access the interior of the modules where they join. If both systems lack plants and substrate, and the PHI-POT system to be placed on top consists of relatively few modules, you can do it yourself. Otherwise, it’s advisable to have two people. If the upper PHI-POT system has many units and plants, it can be a challenging task requiring strength and patience. To facilitate this operation, tactile markers (like Braille symbols) have been added to the connectors to identify the the holes with the threads.
Technically, yes—you can. However, depending on your setup, you might need to leave a gap between the bottom module and the saucer to allow the watering tube to pass through. Each module features two drain holes, each with a 10mm diameter. One of these is vertically aligned throughout the entire system, enabling you to install the watering tube in a loop configuration.
Yes, of course, though always at your own risk. Please note that the materials and mechanical/structural solution you choose must be resistant to corrosion, solar radiation, humidity, and mechanical loads, among other factors.
